Ja­guar Land Ro­ver has un­vei­led the Ja­guar XE Long-whe­el­ba­se (XEL), the se­cond Ja­guar vehi­cle to be ma­nu­fac­tu­red in Chi­na, at the Guangzhou Auto Show.

As part of its RMB 10.9 bil­li­on joint ven­tu­re with Chery Au­to­mo­bi­le Ltd, the Ja­guar XEL will be ma­nu­fac­tu­red at the sta­te-of-the-art Changshu fac­tory. De­ve­lo­ped so­lely for the Chi­ne­se mar­ket the Ja­guar is the fourth vehi­cle to be built at the company’s joint ven­tu­re, in less than th­ree ye­ars.

Qing Pan, Ja­guar Land Ro­ver Exe­cu­ti­ve Di­rec­tor said: Today’s un­vei­ling of the Ja­guar XEL sig­ni­fi­es the next sta­ge of the company’s ex­pan­si­on plans in Chi­na. This is an un­pa­ral­le­led suc­cess story of any fo­reign pre­mium OEM in Chi­na. With sa­les up 20% year-on-year in Chi­na, we are ex­pan­ding our port­fo­lio gi­ving cus­to­mers tai­lo­red so­lu­ti­ons, a sui­te of con­nec­ted ser­vi­ces and un­ri­val­led de­sign for the growing youn­ger cus­to­mer groups.

The all-new Ja­guar XEL de­li­vers gre­at dy­na­mics and pe­er­less de­sign of the stan­dard XE with enhan­ced spa­ce, com­fort and sta­te-of-the-art in­fo­tain­ment te­ch­no­logy cus­to­mers ex­pect from a long-whe­el­ba­se Ja­guar. With an ad­di­ti­o­nal 100mm whe­el­ba­se length, it is se­am­les­sly in­te­gra­ted into the sle­ek de­sign of the sports sa­lo­on, de­li­ve­ring even gre­a­ter in­te­ri­or com­fort.

Also show­ca­sed at the an­nu­al Guangzhou Mo­torshow will be the all-new Ran­ge Ro­ver Sport PHEV; the company’s first plug-in hy­brid elec­tric vehi­cle de­li­ve­ring ef­fi­ci­ency, ca­pa­bi­lity and per­for­man­ce like ne­ver be­fo­re, XF Sport­bra­ke and 18MY Ran­ge Ro­ver will be on dis­play at the Guangzhou Mo­torshow.

Jaguar Land Rover in China

Ja­guar Land Ro­ver has had a pre­sen­ce in Chi­na for over ten ye­ars and has a long-term com­mit­ment to its Chi­ne­se cus­to­mers. With al­most 120,000 vehi­cles sold in 2016, Chi­na is Ja­guar Land Rover’s lar­gest sin­gle mar­ket. It has more than 200 ope­ra­ti­o­nal re­tai­lers and ad­di­ti­o­nal ac­ti­vi­ti­es in­clu­de 10 ap­pren­ti­ce trai­ning pro­gram­mes and th­ree trai­ning aca­de­mi­es as well as a Land Ro­ver Ex­pe­ri­en­ce Cen­tre.

De­mons­tra­ting its com­mit­ment to the Chi­ne­se mar­ket, in the last six months the com­pany ope­ned its first over­se­as en­gi­ne plant in Chi­na as part of its RMB10.9 bil­li­on joint ven­tu­re, ma­nu­fac­tu­ring the all-new In­ge­nium 2.0-litre four-cy­lin­der pe­trol en­gi­ne for fu­tu­re Chery Ja­guar Land Ro­ver vehi­cles. It has also con­fir­med that the all-new Ja­guar E-PACE will be pro­du­ced in Chi­na from 2018.
