WTCC race of Portugal: 46th International Circuit of Vila Real 2016 | June, 24, 25, 26

Between June 24 and 26, the WTCC and ETCC will be in the his­toric cir­cuit of Vila Real, Por­tu­gal. Already in 2015 the Cars World Tour­ing Car Cham­pi­onship and the Euro­pean Tour­ing Cars Cham­pi­onship were in this Por­tuguese cir­cuit that receives major rac­ing events since 1931.

The suc­cess of last year – the races were watched by 46 mil­lion spec­ta­tors in direct by the TV, and over 180,000 peo­ple in the urban cir­cuit — turn pos­si­ble the com­ing of The FIA Pres­i­dent Jean Todt, this year at Vila Real, said Manuel Mel­lo Breyn­er, Pres­i­dent of the Por­tuguese Auto­mo­bile and Kart­ing Fed­er­a­tion (FPAK).At the press con­fer­ence held in TVI facil­i­ties, in addi­tion to the pres­i­dent of FPAK, they were also the dri­vers Tia­go Mon­teiro, Fabio Mota and Manuel Fer­nan­des, as the May­or of Vila Real, Rui San­tos.

This is a real feast of inter­na­tion­al motor sport. I’m feel­ing very well pre­pared, with a very com­pet­i­tive car. I am ready to give a lot of fight­ing to the oppo­nents.

The Por­tuguese dri­ver, cur­rent­ly sec­ond in the WTCC 2016, also said that:

The per­fect sit­u­a­tion would be a vic­to­ry in Vila Real!

To the JLpress’s ques­tion: How the team feels about the mishaps of the last three tests? The Cas­trol Hon­da Rac­ing dri­ver said:

The pos­si­ble dis­qual­i­fi­ca­tions of Hun­gary and Moroc­co and the acci­dent in Ger­many belong to the past and we have to look for­ward. I do not think about the points I lost, but I’m focused on those who I can win.

The pos­si­ble lost of points because alleged irreg­u­lar­i­ties in the flat bot­tom of the car, Tia­go Mon­teiro admit­ted that “we are very calm because it’s all 100% with­in the rules. There was an inter­pre­ta­tion of a per­son with whom we do not agree. So Hon­da called and we expect to know the out­come before Vila Real.
